Bairnsdale with a population of about 11,000 is located 285 kilometres east of Melbourne on the banks of Mitchell River in the Gippsland region of Victoria. Bairnsdale is commercial and administrative centre of the region with numerous historic buildings. The town is close to the Great Dividing Range and the Gippsland Lakes offering a wide range of holiday activities to visitors.
