Terminal C of the Ronald Regan Washington National Airport was designed by Cesar Pelli and opened to the public in 1997, 56 years after the airport officially opened for business. The windows between gates #39 and 40 offer a good view of downtown Washington DC and especially the Washington Monument. The terminal offers all the amenities and concessions that modern travelers demand. It is also close to the area’s Metrorail system which provides an automobile-free link to the greater Washington DC area.
Much smaller than Dulles International Airport which also serves the Washington DC area, Regan National offers near instant access to Washington’s downtown. In 2009, the airport handled more than 17 million passengers.
