天街：
泰山天街是指南天门向东到碧霞祠一段街道，全长约一华里。南天门向北的一段路约有100米，称为北天街，通向桃花屿索道。
关于天街具体形成何时，已无可考。但因大量香客游人墨客上山，需要食宿，天街应运而生。
天街最早的文字记载见于北宋初期，宋哲宗元祐年间（1086~1093年），兖州府官吏邵伯温游泰山，写下了一篇《泰山闻见录》，文中说：“因登绝顶，行四十里，宿野人之庐”。
明朝中期，随着香客的增多，天街也开始繁荣起来。隆庆年间（1567~1572年），冯时可在《泰山记》中说：“登天门，则平壤矣，市而庐者百余家”
万历二十七年（1599年），文学家谢肇浙游泰山，又有这样的记录：（十八盘）梯穷而得平壤，乃有周庐廛（chan）巷成小村落，皆衣食于元君祠也。

1961年，著名作家翻译家李健吾登泰山留宿天街，记下了当时客房的情形：“地方宽敞的摆着茶几，地方窄小的只有炕几，后墙紧贴着峥嵘的山石，前脸正对着万丈深渊”。
1982年天街大规模拓宽改造，低矮的草屋被拆除，天街旧貌换新颜。
