Constructed in April 1970 out of mud, salt crystals, basalt, & water by Robert Smithson, the Spiral Jetty is an earthwork sculpture at the north end of the Great Salt Lake near the Golden Spike National Historic Site, Utah. The salt growth has altered the color of the jetty, rising lakeshore levels sometimes can submerge the artwork, but this visit the lakeshore was far out. This panorama was taken at the end of the spiral, a drone would perform better aerial shots of the jetty.
