untitled transparencies : moving panels / marking time by Gina Fuentes Walker
Cologne

A site-specific video installation for the Monk`s Gathering Room at Abtei Brauweiler near Colgone, Germany. Inspired by images of the abbey´s interior and exterior spaces, this artwork is a visual meditation that explores the psychology of space by challenging our perception of what we see and experience in our daily surroundings. Botanical abstractions, such as silhouettes of trees and brances, will be projected on a wall to create delicate animated patterns suggesting tributaries of blood vessels just beneath the skin. Viewers will be encouraged to walk through the projection to convey depth, play with our sence of perspective and to create a three dimensional image with their bodies. Their figures will become another layer of animated silhouettes as they cast a shadow against the wall. Viewer participation in this site-specific installation will be an essential element in the artwork.
