The Mormon Battalion Monument, located at the southeast corner of the Capitol grounds, memorializes 500 Mormon volunteers who joined the U.S. Army during the Mexican War.  Yoshino cherry trees are in full bloom along the Philo T. Farnsworth Promenade which encircles the Utah State Capitol.
