Castelo de Vide, located on the side of a hill in the Serra de Portalegre, due to its rugged topography, offers spatial compositions rich in contrasts. The Fonte da Vila square is the remarkable piece resulting from a subtle play of volumes and spaces. The porch that covers it, supported by slender columns, determines a shape that protrudes on surfaces defining massive volumes, only vivified by window openings distributed according to very good composition.

It is a fortification of great extension and globally well maintained, from a structural point of view, whose layout results from the meeting of the urban agglomeration with the relief constituted by the foothills of the Serra de São Mamede constitutes a privileged route for reading the territory.
