View from the top of Cinder Cone (elev. 6,907') in Lassen Volcanic National Park, California. The cone erupted around 1650 AD & created the Fantastic Lava Beds below as well as the Painted Dunes, lava blocking the valleys creating Butte & Snag Lakes. Despite being wind-swept, the scoria-composed mountain is well preserved & lacking much tree growth from its relatively young age. There is a double crater w/ views yielding out towards Lassen Peak looking westward.
