Normally, you associate slot canyons with the West, but here in Dover Plains NY, about 35 minutes to the east of Poughkeepsie and near the Connecticut border, there is a fissure in an enourmous rock called the Dover Stone Church.

Large enough for a small group of people to comfortably enjoy at the same time, this particular image was taken from the top of the very sturdy ladder that kind volunteers put in place. There is only room for one person at a time up here, but the view is spectacular.
