Георгиевская башня — Башня получила название от ранее находившейся неподалеку одноименной церкви. Георгиевская башня находится там, где узкий конец площади Минина и Пожарского выходит на бровку Волжского откоса . В башне были ворота, закрытые для проезда уже к началу XVII века. В настоящее время пол проезда ворот лежит почти на два метра ниже уровня земли. Расположение башни на краю склона вызвало устройство у ее северной стены мощных контрфорсов, наличие которых видно еще на гравюре Олеария (XVIIв.).
