A Heroon or shrine to a prominent citizen of the ancient city of Knidos. Founded around the 4th Century BC at the tip of the Datça peninsula in South Western Turkiye this important city, part of the Carian Hexaplois, was a prominent commercial port during the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods. Famous for the (lost) statue of Aphrodite by Praxiteles and the medical school of Eudoxus it is a very large site with two harbours, two theatres, numerous temples and several early churches.
