Temple of the Intercession of the Mother of God - Christian unique cultural and architectural monuments of wooden architecture of the XVII century, located in a small village in the territory of Rikasovo Zaostrovsky rural settlements of the Primorsky district of the Arkhangelsk region of Russia, four kilometers from the administrative center - the city of Arkhangelsk. [1] 

In ancient documents the first mention of the existence of Zaostrovye Orthodox parish belong to the XVI century, to the time spent in the royal throne of the Grand Duke of Moscow and All Russia Ivan the Terrible. It is known that the church built in Zaostrovye burned by fire, suffered from lightning strikes and self-destructive. One of them was transported to Solombala. 

Construction of the Church, which has come down to our days, was launched with the blessing of the bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, the first bishop of Kholmogorsky and Vazhsky Athanasius (Lyubimov) in 1686 and was completed in 1688. 

In 1915, two years before the October Revolution and the Bolsheviks came to power in the Temple was carried out major restoration, after which he was consecrated in the name of the Intercession of the Mother of God. Largely thanks to The refurbishment Temple managed to survive the years of Soviet power. [2] 

Zaostrovsy Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God in their design "kubovaty", ie it is based on a rectangular frame, which is crowned with nine chapters-domes covered with shingles and rest on high "drums." In 1808, a few meters from the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Mother of God, was laid stone Temple Presentation of the Lord, whose construction was completed seventy years later, in 1878.
