Palm Canyon is located in Kofa National Wildlife Refuge south of Quartzsite, Arizona.  Tucked in a small south-facing canyon slit off Signal Peak is this natural oasis of a couple dozen California fan palms, the only natural palm grove in Arizona.  The shade & stored precipitation of the cliffs from the hot Sonoran Desert enables these trees to thrive at this locality.  The area is adorned w/ massive towering cliffs of volcanic origin & has an abundance of desert plants & cacti in the vicinity.  Stray palm trees are also found in adjacent canyon slots.  A popular site to visit, these palms seem to be in decline & have had their share of burn scars & other vandalism.
