R17 World Games Station
Kaohsiung

After going underground through Banpinshan, the MRT train enters an elevated section with a better scenic for its passengers. The MRT train then arrives at R17, World Games Station, designed as a lion lying on the sea.

The design of R17 Station is entrusted to Wood Janssen Inc.; the design  combines construction design and public art to present the concept of broad public art work. Opposite to the naval port, the steel line presenting the full sail is used as the main design concept for the characteristic of sustainable development by the MRT and Kaohsiung City. The green construction design is also incorporated to elevate roof structure and skylight window for natural, environmentally friendly , and energy-saving effects. The image of public art expresses the beauty of natural trees and mountains in a digital way. The warm sunshine in Kaohsiung gives more color to the public art work, looking like a forest in sky.Visitors, thus, are allured by the eye-catching blue sky, white clouds, and green mountains.
