This is the "Sail Training Ship Pogoria" in Stromness harbour. The STS Pogoria is a Polish sailing ship which sailed in the 2011 Tall Ships Race. A number of the tall ships stopped in Orkney and I got the chance to sail onboard the STS Pogoria. It was wonderful, the weather was fine and the crew did everything they could to make us welcome. It was a very enjoyable afternoon and I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

This panorama has a number of disjointed things between one shot and the next which I have decided to leave as they are because I think it gives a feeling of movement and makes the ship feel alive. The main reason for the changes is that between one row of pictures and the next the crew were preparing to leave harbour and all that movement made for one end of a rope not joining with the other in the picture. Another dynamic aspect is that this was done using HDR techniques so flags look a little ghostly as they snap in the wind as the three pictures are taken.
