York Minster and the Treasurer's House, York
England

The Treasurer's House is an Elizabethan town house located on the site of York Minster's medieval treasurer's house, after which it is named. The latter was abolished after the Reformation. What survives today is three houses that were restored and converted into one in the late 19th century by the industrialist Frank Green, to house his collections of antique furniture.

The Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York is better known as York Minster. The word ‘minster’ is what Anglo-Saxons named their important churches. Built by the Normans over several centuries, on the site of an earlier Roman basilica and Anglo Saxon church, the present Norman building encompasses various stages of Gothic architectural development.

It is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe and contains some of the finest and most expansive stained glass windows anywhere in the world.
