Holy Family Church [Kościół Najświętszej Rodziny]

Part financed by the spiritual founder of Zakopane, Tytus Chałubiński, and designed by the Warsaw architect Józef Dziekoński (1844-1927), Zakopane’s Holy Family Church was consecrated in 1899. Its rather ugly neo-Roman exterior betrays a wealth of good things inside, a wonderful mix of folk art motifs, pseudo-Baroque and Art Deco. Of interest are Piotr Niziński’s painted ceiling in the presbiterium and Stanisław Witkiewicz’s Holy Mother of the Rosary chapel.
