Carmo convent of Angra dos Reis

Construction of the church began in 1593, simple colonial architecture with Portuguese tiles, was built by Carmelite friars who settled in Angra dos Reis. Keep the aspect acquired in 1623, time of the construction starts. It houses the images of Our Lady of Health and Christ Crucified. Was listed by IPHAN in 1954. Currently only the church is in funcionamento.Conta an ancient legend that there was an underground passage linking the Carmo Convent another important monastery of the city, the Convent St. Bernardine of Siena. source: "https://angradosreis.wordpress.com/page/3/"
