Convent of Christ, Micha Cloister, Tomar
Portugal

The Cloister of Micha designed by João de Castilho in 1528, and finished in 1542, owes its name to the pieces of bread that were distributed here to the poor. In fact, one of the outbuildings at the top of this cloister is Casa do Forno, where bread was baked for consumption at the Convent and to support pilgrims, visitors and the poor, which would take place at the north door, which gives access to the outside. In this cloister, the Attorney's Office was located, where the rents of the Order's lands were received, and products were bought and sold.
