Historic Fountain at Lake Wendouree in Ballarat
Victoria

Panorama of Lake Wendouree at the historic fountain at the Steve Moneghetti Track in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

The rustic crown shaped fountain was constructed in 1879 to commemorate the location of Ballarat's first water supply. The lake was originally known as Yuille's swamp with water being cleaned through filter beds in a small dam. The water supply was ceased in 1864 when the lake could no longer provide enough water for the growing population.
