This is a view fromt he southeast anchorage in the lagoon of Manihi - an atoll in the Tuamotus of French Polynesia. The photos is from the deck of s/v Tahina on a beautiful day in the lagoon. You can see the coconut trees on the islands to the east and the clear blue waters of the lagoon. There are many pearl farms in the lagoon. The main village is to the south, but not clearly visible in the photo because the boat is blocking the view.
It is always challenging to take a multi-shot panorama from a boat. The water and boat are moving, so there is some slight rocking and shifting of the boat position. If you look closely you will notice the sails, lifelines, and shrouds don't exactly line up in places. It took a lot of work to get it to stitch as well as it is. Still, you get a sense of what it was like to be on Tahina in a beautiful lagoon in the middle of French Polynesia: Awesome!
Thousands of kilometres from anywhere, French Polynesia is the place to indulge yourself. Tahiti evokes images of tropical fruit dripping from strange trees... of translucent, shimmering aqua lagoons... of sun-drenched, sandy beaches, and psychedelic coral. A visit to Tahiti and her islands is akin to stumbling upon a parallel universe where fantasy is just another form of reality and hedonistic daydreams come to life. French Polynesia has captivated the world's imagination since 19th-century European explorers first set foot upon her steamy shores."
