Unfortunately, in 1870 he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. Society for the Promotion of Arts has provided a means for treatment in the Crimea. The artist, having spent time in Yalta, painted some of his best works. That hard work has gone to the detriment of the great artist. In 1873, at age 23, he died in Yalta, where he was buried.
