城厢公社：
城厢街道是莱阳市府驻地。位于莱阳市中部偏北。
明清时期，县城内划为忠正、宣化、杏坛、迎仙、贤古、东北关6个坊。1930年设城关镇，属莱阳县第一区……，1945年3月设城关镇，8月设城关区。1956年7月改为城厢镇，1958年10月成立城厢人民公社。1982年1月恢复城关镇，1984年4月改称城关镇，1989年4月设城厢街道办事处。
上世纪六十年代，城厢公社在现今的金水路东、升平路北办公，公社内的用房均为平矮民居房，睡土炕、拉风箱、冒炊烟。公社工作人员步行到各个村处理公务，落实任务。路，当然都是土路。
50多年来，莱阳县政府办公地未变，而莱阳市区面貌巨变。莱阳“的哥”说市里财力都投到砚河景区了，市民休憩有了好去处。
