A 122m aerial view of the bridge crossing of the upper Lillooet River in the Pemberton Meadows outside Pemberton, British Columbia. I had stopped here for a ground panorama during the winter several years ago & was struck by how lovely the region was, away from reality it seemed. I have made subsequent visits to the Pemberton Valley since my first winter visit. This is a nice pullout for river access as well as the trailhead to climb high up to Tenquille Lake. A good view of Mt. Currie at one end & the Mt. Meager volcanic complex the opposite end.
A few days earlier I had met a nice gentleman named Max on a deactivated forest service road a few kilometres away. He was from Gaspé, Quebec, living seasonally & doing labor at a nearby farm. He was exploring more of this area & had offered me some hospitality after I told him I was planning a few days of solo bushwhack in the remote Canadian wilderness. After an hour of chat during the evening mosquito infestation, he told me he hoped to do more farm labor in the States. Like the US, a lot of eastern Canadians will venture to the western part of the country to work while experiencing the landscape.
