For nearly 300 years there has been a lighthouse on Portland Bill. The current lighthouse was built in 1906 and is 41 meters tall. The light can be seen 25 nautical miles out to see. Unfortunately the lighthouse is now automatically operated and doesn't require a lighthouse keeper.
