Formerly named "Shuan Tile Factory," the Sanhe Kilns was built in 1918 and was the only existing red kiln in southern Taiwan. The Sanhe Kilns still keeps the most ancient method of red tiles production for the rebuilding and restoration of traditional and historical buildings and constructions in Taiwan. The Sanhe Kilns has been also selected as one of the "100 Historical Building in Taiwan History" by the Culture Ministry of Taiwan, and announced as a heritage in the 2nd March in 2004. It has now gradually turned to focusing in promoting creative ceramic arts for cultural industry of the new generation.
