Sarah C. Hallock (nee Currie)

Birth: Mar. 8, 1847

Maplewood, Amelia County, Virginia, USA

Death: Jun. 20, 1871

Virginia City, Storey County, Nevada, USA

Born in Maplewood VA. in 1847 oldest daughter John and Sarah Currie (not the Curry family of the Carson City Mint fame). She came out west with her family in the late 1850's settling in Virginia City, Nevada were her father was a local business man and saloon owner. In 1869 she met and married a local man James Hallock. She died of complications of child birth on June 20th 1871 at age 24 and laid to rest in the Masonic Section of the Virginia City Cemetery. The baby boy James Jr. survived and moved away to Carson City with his father who remarried and is buried there.
