Slate cutting benches, Dinorwic slate quarry, North Wales
Wales

This shows the abandoned slate cutting benches in the Dinorwic quarry. The slate was cut and split on the mountains. Then the slate tiles were paced into the waggons and lowered via in incline system down to the railway tracks from where it went to the nearest port in Y Felinheli.

A web site with a lot of information on the Dinorwic quarry (and other welsh quarries) can be found at http://www.penmorfa.com/Slate/dinorwic.html
