The Da Dong Art Center, a new landmark of Kaohsiung, is a seamless blend of art in living and the local culture. The integrated cultural center includes a multi-functional performance hall, an exhibition hall, and an art library. The exterior of the building emphasizes on natural elements, combining semi-outdoor spaces with the surrounding ecology. The design of this semi-outdoor space allows natural ventilation, playing of lights and shadows and a sense of Zen. During daytimes, the building looks like a rising giant hot air balloon; in the evening, the balloon-like structures are lighted, each glowing with its unique color.
