The West Cliff, Whitby, North Yorkshire
England

Its a cold December day on top of the West Cliff of the North Yorkshire fishing/seaside town of Whitby. Looking through the whale jawbones across the harbour can be seen St. Marys Church and the ruins of Whitby Abbey atop the East Cliff, below is the town itself built around the River Esk. To the right is The Royal Hotel, to the left overlooking the North Sea is the statue of Captain James Cook 1728-1779, who sailed from Whitby on his voyages of exploration.
