Retezat Mountains are some of the most beautiful mountains in Carpati, made famous by the glacier-sculpted landscapes and by the many (80+) glacial lakes that are to be found here.

Bucura is the biggest glacial lake in Romania, having an area of 8,90 hectares. It is situated at 2040m and camping is allowed near it. It's a good starting point for most treks in the Retezat Mountains.
