Ben Loyal is a mountain near the north coast of the county of Sutherland in Scotland. This dominant peak is easily identified over a long distance from all directions. On foot, the mountain is approached from the north. There is a dedicated car park just off the unclassified road at NC584547. Follow the mapped track then footpath almost to Cunside. From there, a worn path begins what becomes a very steep climb. This path is not shown on OS maps, but is shown on Walkhighlands mapping to the 600m contour. Continuing upwards but bearing slightly to the left, the prominent rock structure of the top is obvious. The summit plateau can only be safely accessed from the north, all other sides have sheer drops of up to 40m. The full 360° panoramic view includes Ben Hope and Ben Klibreck, Ben Griam Beg, Ben Griam More and the Orkney Islands.
