Among the cloister and the side door that allows the entrance of those who come from the street of the Souto there was yet another zone, leaning against the north side wall of the kings chapel, which was known as Santo Amaro cloister. There are those who have located a cloister in the Gothic period, but there are doubts that this has happened. In the eighteenth century there was a series of arches that separated three chapels, those of Santo Amaro, Our Lady of the Good Memory and Holy Trinity. With the restoration of the national monuments these chapels passed to another place, for the chapel of Our Lady of Piedade, creating a medieval arc interrupted, in order to appear to have a structure in arches there. It was here that the main cemetery of the city was located, where for example the Master André Soares was buried, a great figure of the Portuguese Rococano Architecture / Sculpture and who there are works, two retables, in this same cathedral.
This space also serves as exposure of old pieces in stone, of which the most competitive is that of the old Quinhentist Pelourinho of the city.
