Built in 1955, the spectacular main hall and the architecture of the Kaohsiung Buddhist Temple are rarely seen at the time.It has given rise to the long-lasting interest in Buddhism in southern Taiwan with a profound influence and now honored as the cradle of Buddhism in southern Taiwan.The abbot of the temple was Buddhist Master Yueji and Buddhist Master Singyun subsequently. The great senior masters, such as Cihhang and Kaijheng, have also been invited to share Buddhist teaching with the followers.The main mall is the home of a famous giant Buddha statue which is said to be the only Buddha clay statue preserved in Taiwan today.
