The Mönchsjochhütte is located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch, at the foot of the Great Aletsch Glacier. Located on 3657 meter over sealevel, this hut is the highest guarded hut, which stands entirely on Swiss soil. Because the hut is only an hour away from the Jungfrau-Joch station, it is accessible to many people. At this altitude, hiking is noticeably more strenuous.
