NOt only a comfort stop on the way north from Wellington, Waiouru is the home of the NZ Army and this museum.

The building, clad in a grey concrete seems to epitomise the army theme  but the sign for the cafe, incongruous in pink suggests the army has moved in other directions??

Tanks and cannon in front of the building are childrens playgrounds while a serious memory of past tradition exists inside the museum.
