Neimen Song Jiang Carnival
Taiwan

Neimen Song Jiang Carnival held in Kaohsiung is the largest scale of art array carnival in Taiwan. The Song-Jiang Jhen Battle Array is a type of folk art performance developed from the Song-Jiang play that is originated from the classical novel, Outlaws of the Marsh, and integrated with the Buddha and Guanyin Bodhisattva parade organized for the Zih-Jhu Temple Fair, aimed at scaring away the evil spirits and bringing good luck to people. Song-Jiang Jhen Battle Array is the most popular folk art performance in southern Taiwan, and the Neimen District has the highest number of Song-Jiang Jhen Battle Array troupes in the area. Thus the Neimen District is also known as the hometown of art array performance. Neimen Song Jiang Carnival, held every year in March or April, not only attracts all the art array troupes from all over Taiwan to compete with each other, but its gorgeous and spectacular scene also attracts numerous visitors from all over the world to watch and admire.
