North Queensferry The Forth Bridges
Scotland

The village of North Queensferry gets its name from St Margaret who founded a church in nearby Dunfermline and regularly used the ferry here to commute to the capital; Edinburgh. The modern day village is now dwarfed by the imposing structures of the Forth Bridges, the first and main bridge is the; The Forth Bridge (the rail bridge) which was completed in 1820 and was the worlds first major steel construction and ranks as one of the modern worlds great feats of engineering. Its somewhat less impressive sister bridge is the Forth Road Bridge which local tradition gives its reason for being built as  “to give the tourists a better view of the Forth Bridge”.
