The old Town Hall of Penamacor is a perfect example of the location of the town hall on the doors of the village. It lies in the alignment of the wall and rests on the primitive door of the village, whose Romanesque portal was juxtaposed with the Gothic portal, creating a tunnel entrance. Here the councilors of the municipality gathered and deliberated until the 1800s, when the City moved to its current location, next to Terreiro de Santo António. Stripped of its former functions, the building was to serve as a warehouse for the military garrison, and as early as 1949 it was the seat of the embryonic nucleus of the Municipal Museum. Between 2005 and 2010 it hosted the Tourism Office.
