This section of Discovery Bay National Park, contains some 20+kms of tall bare high sand dunes.
This area, approx. 1800 hectares is also the home of the Portland Sand Dune Buggy Club,

It is the only place in Victoria you can legally drive on sand dunes.
There's good winter fishing for Salmon, Mulloway and Gummy shark so you'll often see surf rods bending to the ebb and flow of the huge surf which pounds this section of coast.
It's a wild place well worth visiting even if you don't go for a drive on the dunes.
Winding through this magnificent area is the Great South West walk
