Sesimbra, is one of the most typical villages the region of Setubal in Portugal. Sesimbra is framed in the Natural Reserve of Arrábida Mountain, with a magnificent natural landscape as a background. Sesimbra is synonymous with great natural wealth of excellence. The Sesimbra gastronomy is varied and based on fresh fish and seafood. Also its heritage is rich and varied: the Archaeology Museum, which displays archaeological discoveries and Sea Museum, which opened in 1987, where several photographs and materials relating to fisheries. As for the religious heritage, especially several Churches from seventeenth century, including the Misericórdia Church. The Fortress of S. Tiago, a seventeenth century monument of military architecture, is considered the heaviest construction in the village due its weight and its historic military and physical implantation.
