The Hunan Provincial People's Government plans to hold a public memorial ceremony in memory of Emperor Shun (a leader of ancient China more than 4,000 years ago) at Jiuyi Mountain in Ningyuan County of Hunan's Yongzhou City on September 28. Xu Shousheng, governor of Hunan Province is expected to officiate at the ceremony.
This event highlights the theme of "Emperor Shun Blessing Hunan" through a series of memorial and cultural and business activities.
The ceremony will strictly follow the rituals set on the national intangible cultural heritage list to pay tribute to the great sage. Participants will witness 10 common rituals in ceremonies of worshipping ancient emperors such as praying music and dance show and 34 taps the drum.
