The construction of Kaohsiung Arena commenced on August 13th, 2004, and completed in February, 2009, with a ground area of 57,037 sq.m.as well as 15,000 fixed seats, 1,400 car parking spaces or so and 4,000 motorcycle parking spaces.The arena cost approximately NT$ 6.7 billion and was anticipated to start operation along with the opening of the MRT Red Line in October, 2007.The sports dancing and gymnastics contests for the World Games 2009 will be held in Kaohsiung Arena, which provides multiple facilities for athletics, performance, sports, leisure and entertainment, conference meeting, exhibitions and education.The arena will upgrade the City’s competitiveness and global image entirely.

Kaohsiung arena is located at the intersection of Bo-ai Road and Sinjhuangzih Road with easy access to the Kaohsiung Arena MRT Station.With Hanshin Arena Department Store right next to it, the entire place forms a shopping mall of an area of almost 30,000 ping, making it a multifunctional sports park for “healthy, leisure and shopping” activities.
