2009年縣市合併後，高雄農業生產面積達全市總土地六分之一，農牧產值約新台幣193億元，為推廣農特產多元性、優質生鮮加工品及安全檢測等農業產銷政策，塑造行銷品牌，市府打造以「高雄首選」為視覺意象，分別於高鐵左營站、高雄郵政總局及蓮池潭等地點規劃設置「高雄物產館」行銷中心，除推展及銷售本市農業重要政策及農特產品外，以農業故事吸引年輕族群了解本市文化，建立農業價值。
