The Alan Paton Centre is located within the Pietermaritzburg Main Campus of UKZN.

The Centre was started shortly after Alan paton's death in 1988. Anne Paton, his widow, donated the contents of his study to the university. A recreation of his study including his books, journals, correspondence, manuscripts and personal items now stands as a living memorial to this famous writer and politician.
