The north portal in the large courtyard leads directly to the steps with the iron railings, by Adam Kühn from Stein a. d. Donau. The stairway area was reconstructed by Gotthard Hayberger from Steyr. His structural principles are based on the numbers three and four; there are three sets of staircases in the wings, three storeys in the monastery altogether, three windows with niches measuring 3 x 2m, the four seasons (being represented in four of the six niches), the four elements, (each at the bases of the arches), and the four continents, (represented in the fresco).
The pieces of Rococo stucco were created by Franz Kirschmer from St. Pölten, and the balustrade is by Ferdinand Steinbecks from Eggenburg .
The ceiling fresco was painted by Bartolomeo Altomonte in 1744. It displays the triumph of St. Benedict: Faith and Humility carrying the father of our Order into heaven, and the four continents, Europe in the north, Asia in the east Africa in the south, and America in the west, are painted in reverence of him.
