From its source, the river Júcar flows through the highlands of the province of Cuenca untill south. This party is going through karst areas. The canyons and gorges are numerous, as well as caves and other forms of erosion. Among the most interesting are the Ciudad Encantada, Las Majadas and in the river or its tributaries. Rich in sulphate, its waters are emerald. At the meeting of clay materials, the river flows through wide valleys with flat. Before reaching the Ventano del Diablo (Serrania de Cuenca), it receives the Una, which forms a lagoon, its water being retained by the natural dam on the right bank Júcar.
