陽明山中的竹子湖，位於大屯山、小觀音山、七星山之中，日據時代為栽種櫻花的主要地區,為台灣最早種植日本櫻花的地區,竹子湖於58年起,由日本引進白色海芋種植,至今海芋田面積達十三公頃，約三十多個培海芋農場，每年的三月下至五月中,為海芋盛開季節，白色海芋開滿山谷形成花海,與遠方的硫璜噴氣孔及馬槽橋,形成一幅美麗的田園風光。
