Cloudy Bay is an impressive spectacle of ocean shoreline. Even though it is home to the Bruny Island Surf Classic there are many days when the 5km beach is deserted. Located inside the South Bruny National Park in the Australian State of Tasmania, the bay is surrounded by coastal heathland habitat that supports many endangered and rare species of birds among other creatures.
The beach once supported a sea shell industry to supply glassmakers with raw materials but now it is primarily enjoyed for the fantastic waterfront scenery and surfing conditions for expert surfers.
Directly to the south, the bay opens up to the Tasman Sea. Beyond that, the next body of land is Antarctica.
