In my opinion, Copacabana has a better atmosphere than Ipanema. There are more football and volleyball nets. The beach vendors are slightly more prevalent. There is also a curve to the beach, which allows you to see more from the shore. At night, the streetlights wrap around in a lovely way. Above Copacabana is Leme beach and Praça Almirante Júlio de Noronha, a fun place to hang out.
